Dubya's accountability moment

Cindy Sheehan has more courage that I can imagine:
Before this all started, I used to think that one person couldn’t make a difference... but now I see that one person who has the backing and support of millions of people can make a huge difference.

That’s why I’m going to be out here until one of three things happens: It’s August 31st and the president’s vacation ends and he leaves Crawford. They take me away in a squad car. Or he finally agrees to speak with me.

If he does, he’d better be prepared for me to hold his feet to the fire. If he starts talking about freedom and democracy -- or about how the war in Iraq is protecting America -- I’m not going to let him get away with it.

Like I said, this is George Bush’s accountability moment.
Yes, the right-wingnuts may pull out all the stops to smear her. They may even tear apart her family. But, none of that seems to phase her.

Chickenshit tried to finesse the situation by holding a press conference during a break from "clearing brush" out on his "ranch" in Crawford, but he isn't fooling anyone but himself. He did nothing but blather the same platitudes he's been blathering for months. It ain't workin'. He is starting to look like someone who just repeats his blithering louder to someone who doesn't speak the same language in the hopes that they will understand. It didn't work on Social Security, and it ain't working on Iraq. People are finally starting to see that the emperor has no clothes.

So, I'm passing on some link mojo to her plea. Frankly, this is the question that has gone unanswered since well before the election. In fact, since just after "mission accomplished" and David Kaye reported back that there were no WMD and the administration shifted the "mission" to bringing democracy to the muslim world.

Mr. President, what exactly is this "noble cause" to which you keep referring? What is the mission? Is it the same mission that prompted the pre-emptive strike against a sovereign nation? How exactly is it that we honor our fallen and maimed by "staying the course", when that course holds only more death and destruction?

It is time to hold this administration accounable for their crimes.
